July 30, 2006. Sunday
I had an easy day today. Was planning to do an easy 2k swim and then 2k pull, but I ended up swimming 3.8k straight and pulling only 500m. I figured I should get used to the feeling of swimming 3.8k! Felt good, really relaxed and really easy... I did it in about 1h 10min. Nothing much else other than my Orbea frame cracked and I've got to get a new frame now. Have decided on the Pinarello F4:13 in pink 42.5cm. Buggin Ah Hock to ship it in asap, so please pray for me and that my new bike comes in soon!

160k!! The longest bike ride I've ever done!! And I could get off the bike and walk normally, no back pains... a good sign! well ok, the truth is i biked 142k and then went to wash my bike at Cycleworx and then had lunch and biked home. So really it's not 160k straight. But a bloody good effort don't you think???? And that's after running 16k yesterday! Right, I'm REALLY excited about the Ironman now. So far today I've eaten - for breakfast: 2 slices of banana bread with peanut butter, 1 kopi bing, half a powerbar. during the ride: the remainder of the powerbar and a litre of 100plus. after the ride: an assortment of biscuits. lunch: scraps of duckmeat, one ang ku kueh and one can of liang teh. snack: fruits and 2 slices of bread with peanut butter. As you can tell, I really need to work on the nutrition department. How many calories you reckon I burn on a 160k ride? Better get a nice dinner.

I had a really good day today, partly because I had no work. Partly also because I went back to RJC and did a long run with Mr Leong. Running with him brings back memories of my jc days when I used to run with him every day after school and on Sunday mornings too! He is an awesome athlete and an equally amazing coach and now training partner. So we went on for about an hour and a half from rjc to macritchie through SICC and to pierce reservoir and back. A very nice and slow pace that allowed for nonsensical banter. Our next run is going to be on Wednesday, and we're going for three hours... it's been a good week so far. After taking Monday off following the PD tri, I've put in three 16k running sessions and one 5k swim. Tomorrow will be a 150km bike (I hope!) and perhaps Sunday will just be an easy spin. I'm getting really excited about the Ironman!
