First entry! I bought the domain earlier this week, and today I started working on the site. A lot of stuff not on yet! Well, today's Labour Day, so rather than taking my usual day off (Saturday is my rest day), I decided to labour instead! Well, wasn't that labour-intensive really. Rode at Coastal with my friends... easy ride of about 40k (one small loop, one big loop). Had a pretty darn big pack today compared to the usual 5 or 6 of us, so it was pretty enjoyable. After that we went to the usual coffeeshop at Bedok Simpang and hung out for an hour or so. Returned home and worked on the page the whole day -- till 11pm! Well, do check back soon for more updates! Till then, be good.

This morning's training was pretty good. Thought it might rain but it didn't, and it was actually pretty darn hot. The program this morning was: 6K bike warm-up, 3K warm-up run, 70k bike moderate, 5k run hard, 6k bike cool down. Felt really good actually, probably cos today there was a pretty big pack of us with Denison, Alvin, Yongquan, Pat, Neo,... joining in. Rushed back to make it for 11am service, then met Ben, Uncle Robs, Shaun, and Wille for lunch at Sakae Sushi. Hung out till bout 5ish then headed for home - I could hardly open my eyes! Sleepy! Well, good thing tomorrow's an easy day. I feel like I'm improving slowly but surely, so that's great. I'm really stoked about the World Uni Tri Champs so I'm aiming towards that race for now. This week there's the World Triathlon Championships in Madeira, Portugal. Wonder who'll win? I'm guess it's gonna be Simon Whitfield. Pete (Robbo) probably would've won if he didn't pull out to concentrate on the Olympics! Oh well. There's always another time. Alrighty, you take care. I need sleep!

phew! it's been a long day. just got back from swim training (it's 9:50pm). had a pretty darn good session today by my standards. i'm not from a swimming background so anytime i can keep up with the others, it's a good day. we started of with stretch cords, then did 400m WU, 400m K, 8x200m P, 200m CD, 12x100m, 100m CD, 4x25m sprint, 200m CD. this morning i also did an easy 30 min run, so overall i'm pretty happy with my day's work. nothing interesting happened in the office, well, nothing usually does. hooked benny boy up with uncle boon today, hopefully he'll get to ride the orbea orca home tomorrow! keepin my fingers crossed for that! alrighty, i think it's time to hit the sack. hope your day has been good!

It's 6:52am and I've just taken a bath after a sweaty 515am ride. It's stormin' outside now, so I'm just glad to be nice, clean, warm, and dry in my cozy room. It was quite a painful ride today, cos I'm still tired from last night's long run + slopes session (which ended at 830pm, so by the time i return home it's much too little time to rest to wake at 415am for the ride). I got dropped twice by the guys, so that ain't good. Pain... you probably think I'm crazy. yeah, i think i am too. but in a good way that is. Pain is my best friend. I love Pain. Why? Because pain, at the end of the day, translates into pleasure. Pleasure when I know i've done something good for my body. Pleasure when I know I've gone to limits i never knew i could. Pleasure when i kick my fellow competitor's ass. Pleasure when i lie on my bed, tucked under my comforter in the aircon room, jazz music in the back ground, legs bursting with lactic acid buildup... man, it feels good.

TGIF! Man, it's been a long, long week that zoomed past at the speed of light. Fwoosh! Gone. Let me recount. I died last night with the 60x50m + 10x25m swim set. Then I resurrected at 4.30am this morning to ride 40k at 5:15am. Then I died again. Then I went for this sports council medical checkup (ECG, blood test, urine sample, chest x-ray) at Camden medical centre. Now, I just came back from our track session at the ol' SPE at Bukit Timah. 16x400 on 2:30, which I could only keep up for 14 (but I'm still happy about that). Ahh.. feels so good now. I'm so super duper duper duper tired now, i'm really looking forward to my massage tomorrow. That's my routine, massage every Saturday. Katijah at the SSC sports and medicine dept is the ultimate, bestest masseuse I tell ya. The ultimate. If you guys need her contact, drop me a mail. She does house calls too. She's AWESOME. Alrighty, I'm ordering Birkenstocks online now. You should too. Seeya!

You know how sometimes you have a feeling something's gonna happen and then it really happens and you're pretty freaked out, like you think you're psychic or something? Well yeah I kinda got that feeling today. For the whole of yesterday I had a feeling that we'd be doing a 40k ITT 10k run today. On my way to the meeting point, I bumped into Alvin and I even mentioned it to him. True enough, that's what we did today. I'm getting a little bit freaked. If only i could predict 4D numbers the same way? hahaa. Anyway it's been a tiring week, so i was just happy that i did alright for the session today. Next week's gonna be an easy week so I'm looking forward to some active recovery. Went to church, then went to RJC for this "Move 'n Groove" thingie. Met quite a few old friends I haven't seen in a LONG time, and caught up with the PE dept too. Now I'm home and I'm super duper tired. Could just knock out on me bed anytime. Mom's coming back with cheesecake though, but I don't think I'll be having much -- I kinda feel I need to lose some weight/cut down on fats so ... yeah... you have a good week. I'm checking out the World Triathlon Championships results online now.

MAN! I'm so super duper ultra tired. Can't believe it. I was too tired to even go for the Troy Gala Premiere tonight (yes, i wasted 2 tix). Anyway just my luck, had a 1500m time trial today, and I did such a slow time I'm not even gonna bother mentioning it. Ran 6k really easy this morning under the blazin' hot sun too. Man. I'm so tired. So tired yet I still train, like, I'm probably gonna ride at 515am tomorrow. Somebody stop me! Anyway my tickets to Taiwan and Spain have been booked already, which is pretty cool. Hopefully I'll get some good rest in this week and be all charged up again for the next few weeks of hard training. Alrighty I need sleep, good night!
14 May 2004. Friday.
TGIF, again! Coach left last night for Nanjing, so we had a 4k easy swim. I still felt tired though! Sigh. This morning rode 40k with Denison and Michael... i just drafted all the way. Work was the same... friday is a good day, well kind of, cos edits for me end on Thursday, so Friday is usually spent prepping for next week's show. Went for a massage during my lunch break... a much needed massage. We had 10k easy run tonight then some circuit training... i wanted to go easy today, but i was running away from someone, so i couldn't help but run fast. It's seriously scary and creepy I tell you, this fella... I'll tell you another time (don't wanna waste my breath). I'm glad it's Saturday tomorrow, cos I have my regular Saturday massage. Maybe I'll fit in an easy swim too. Hm, i think people reading this diary might get a little bored, cos basically I do the same thing everyday, so there's really nothing interesting to read. HHAHA. ok let me think of something interesting to say... hmm... urm... well... geez. Nothing. absolutely nothing. Hey, but rest assured, if anything interesting (other than triathlon) pops up, you'll be the first to know. Ciao! HEY I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING INTERESTING TO SAY. i filled in this stupid survey today, and i put my age as 21. and now talking to my friend, he says, "I'm 21, one year younger than you." Then it hits me that I'm 22. Man, I actually forgot that i was 22. I can't believe it. That's is absolutely crazy.

Phew! It's been a great weekend. Had a swim on saturday morn then went for an absolutely fabulous back massage (from Katijah, as always). Hung out at the physio dept for a bit, then went walking at Katong for a bit. When i got home i flopped on the couch and watched my brand new Love Actually DVD straight from the US. Man, made me feel all warm n fuzzy inside. Dozed off on the couch, then woke up and basically lazed around some more. Sunday morn's training was supposed to be easy, but we ended up whacking pretty much the whole thing, but it was cool. Enjoyed meself, had a nice 70k bike 3k run brick session. Went to church, then came home to laze around some more. Yes, yes, yes, I do laze around a lot (but i deserve it, don't i?). Watched my Notting Hill DVD (notice a trend here - hugh grant) and felt all fuzzy inside again. Guess what my next movie is? No no no not Two Weeks' Notice or About a Boy... Jerry Maguire! Got Kannan to buy the DVD for me from the US. Did I mention that Jerry Maguire was my all time fave movie? Uhhuh, you got that right. It is. Anywayyyy... today i was a lab rat for like, 5 hours. Had my lactate and VO2 max testing. Results will be out next week. Thing is, I only knew of the testing yesterday AFTER our hard training, so that pretty much screwed the test up a bit! Should've rested. AH HECK. Okie dokers, if you guys got anything interesting that happened to ya, please do tell me, i love a good story now and then. :) ciao.

I realised everytime i start writing here i have an urge to start with "PHEW!". But really, PHEW! TGIF!!! This week... this week has actually been pretty good. Well, I had an easy 10k run in the morn and 4k swim in the evening on Tuesday, swam 4k in the morn on Wednesday and took the day off after that cos i had a media preview of Shrek 2. YOU GOTTA CATCH IT! IT'S HILARIOUS! Thursday, biked 40k in the a.m. and swam 4k in the p.m. And today, took the morning off, cos I had a gut feeling I should. Guess what? Gut feeling paid off again (I tell you, I'm psychic), cos we had a 5k time trial on the track. Well I didn't go all out. I was really trying to concentrate on regulating my breathing, and I think i did a decent time (21, not the greatest but considering it was about 90% effort, it's cool). Found on my vo2 max is in the 50s, but also, considering the state i was in on Monday, I'm sure the next test will be much better. Tomorrow it's massage time again, and a nutrition talk after that. Just bought new shimano cycling shoes, gonna test em on Sunday! can't wait. i hate my carnacs. anyone wanna buy my 2nd hand carnac trs 7c? let me know. not the best condition but still usable. This Sunday we'll be having our session at Sentosa. It's gonna be swim, bike, run... I'm actually looking forward to that. Firstly cos I'm bloody sick of coastal road, and secondly cos I love hills. oh, and thirdly cos i wanna try out my speedo fastskin that i bought. Yep, will tell you guys how that goes. One more week to go before we leave for China. Hope all of you are well. See you soon!
25 May 2004. Tuesday.
Here's what has been going on since Friday... i had a short 30k bike early Saturday morn then went for me massage. Sunday we did our session at Sentosa, and I swam 1k biked 80k and ran 5k in total. It was friggin' hot as hell so I'm pretty burnt now. Was so poofed that I slept like a baby when i came back and i rested on Monday. This week's a pretty busy week in the office too so my training's taking a hit. Today I ran a nice easy comfortable 12k in the mornin, and i felt absolutely awesome. Now I just came back from a 30x100m main swim set. Felt pretty good actually. So that's what's been going on since Friday... how about ya? Well triathlon aside, what else have I been doing? Hmm.. um... well I watched Bowling for Columbine (again) on DVD and half of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. I think i've got a short attention span so i can't sit through long movies. You know what? I've been doing a lot of people watching lately... but it's not like i came to a conclusion about anything. I just like to watch people, and watch people watching other people. Try it, it opens your eyes to things. alrighty i need sleep!!!!!!! goodnite!!!
27 May 2004. Thursday.
Man, when it rains, it pours. I'm so bogged down this week.. everything must happen in the same week. I'm leaving for china this sunday, so there's helluva lot to get ready (including the fact that i come back on 10th june evening and leave early 11th june for a race in taiwan). PLUS i have yet to settle my fyp stuff and also subject registration, AND i have to type my 20 page internship report by uh,... sunday. yep, basically, I'M DEAD. i can't wait for this week to be over. but then again, when this week is over, i'll be in china dying too. well, i kinda rather die training than die of school werk. ARGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And you know what, I've been thinking about passion. I wonder sometime why some of my teammates do triathlon - fame, fortune (riiiight, if there is even any), fun? If you ask me, I would say i do it out of passion. I may be dragging myself for training, feeling like I should take the day off, but then I remind myself how good I'll feel after it's all over, and I push myself. And I tell myself not to think about how tired I am - just push myself to the limit. Sometimes it works, and sometimes I break down. But when it works, you just feel... awesome. And the next time you do the same workout, you'll have full confidence that you can do it, and maybe even do it betta. :)
