| I got back from Hong Kong last night and wasn't feeling too good for
school today so i didn't go. The race started at 6.07am on Sunday morning
(yep, we got up at 3.30am to get ready for the race!) at Plover Cove.
The 2 lap swim felt a bit long and I think I went too fast on the first
lap and was dying towards the end. So of course I was happy to get out
of the water and onto my bike for the hilly 4 lap bike. When i say hilly,
i mean hilly, because at some point in time i was going up the darn hill
at 12km/h. Of course Susan Williams (Athens Olympics Bronze medallist)
was flying past me and everyone else for that matter, but that's just
cos it's Susan Williams. I caught Sandra (PHI) on the last lap of the
bike and we entered T2 almost together, with myself having a little edge
over her. I sped out of T2 first and never looked back, extending my lead
to 3 minutes over Sandra and winning the U23 title. There were only 7
women in the race (Susuan Williams (USA), Lauren Groves (CAN), Claire
Murray (HKG), Jill Fung (HKG), a Japanese competitor, Sandra (PHI) and
I) and altho I was 6th, I was happy to beat Sandra as she had beaten me
on all occasions before. Further, she is the Philippines' top triathlete,
so that puts me in good stead for the SEA Games next year. But it is still
too early to tell yet!!! Anyway, HK rounded off my triathlon season for
the year, and what a long and exciting one it has been! This has been
a trulyl globe-trotting year -- New York City, Kunming, Philippines, Kunming
again, Taiwan, Spain, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Malaysia, and
finally, Hong Kong. Phew! It's been one helluva ride!! Now it's time for
me to shift my focus to my exams... coming up in twenty days. ARGH! |
| Hi, how have you guys been doin? Since i returned from HK i've been
so busy and hence so tired... taking a break from training right now,
well kind of. Just doing some 'maintenance work', nothing too tiring and
too time consuming. My body wouldn't allow it anyway, i felt sick last
week and i still can't seem to find energy to train. i think my body is
yellin for a rest so it's probably best to give it some. After all the
next race is just the Veritical Marathon... and then the Singapore marathon.
But really, right now i'm just finishing up on this race to the end of
my bachelor's degree... this sem comes to an end next week, and after
that just my final year project to go. Exciting, yet scary at the same
time, because I have yet to start on it! Been looking at graduate schools
lately too, but just looking, cos going there depends on whether i can
get a scholarship or some financial aid. But i really really really hope
to go overseaes because i am dying for some greener pastures. Hope you're
having fun on your plot of land... ciao |
