I've got about 10 hours before I catch a flight... haven't packed yet, lazing in bed after a super-shiok hard and fast ride with the Cycleworx guys. Had a mish-mash of leftovers for dinner... a third of a sausage with one slice of wholemeal bread, half a soya bean curd tart, half a pandan moon pie, one glass of orange juice, one small piece of chicken meat. Fantastic athlete's diet, aye? Sigh. And I swam this morning too. Well... least I got some SIA plane food to look forward to tomorrow. (I actually like plane food, don't ask why) Been pretty damn busy. Last Saturday, I worked till 1am, slept close to 2am and totally missed the Shape Run. Andrew called me at 7.10am (he had my race pack and was supposed to pass it to me) only to hear me in a semi-groggy state uttering barely audible or coherent english. I slept all the way till 9.30am and then went to church, rushed back to sleep all the way till 6pm. When I woke up I felt like a pig so I went for a swim, and actually felt really good during the swim! Oh back to the flight. It's to Beijing... I'm headed to the BG Beijing Triathlon World Cup, which doubles as an Olympic test event. The who's who of Olympic Distance triathlon will be there... I'm not racing though, but reporting. I am, however, going to try the swim (non-wetsuit) and run course. Too bad I won't have my bike with me. All right I think it's time to pack. Back on Monday and won't be checkin me mails till then...

Freaky deaky Friday, this day has been. Let me tell you all about it... It began with lunch with Siva Diva, who lives ultra near my workplace. Met him at 1pm and we headed to the coffeeshop for grub. After lunch, I walked back to his place with him just to check out his soon-to-be renovated pad and for him to pick up some gear before heading out for another appointment. Five minutes later, we were across the road waiting for Jack (who coincidentally is my ex's cousin) to pick us up and give me a lift back to office. While waiting, a girl came up to us, obviously very lost, asking where she could get on a 157 bus cos she had to get to Andrew Road. Siva Diva pointed out the way (pretty complicated if you ask me)... and then it hit me. "Hey," I said, "Andrew Road! That's where you're going too!". And then I think it hit him, so he said to her (and I forgot her name): "Oh yah. You can take a lift from us, we're going there too." At this point, the girl's look on her face was classic. A mix between oh-no-am-I-gonna-get-kidnapped and yaye-I-got-a-free-ride-I-can't-believe-it. Barely a minute later, Jack arrives and we all hop into the car. Amazingly, he took this weird coincidence like it happens everyday. Cool. Found out the girl was going to MediaCorp for a Suria shoot. Jack and Siva Diva dropped her off safely... all was good. It's nearly 11pm now and I just got home from work. Chatting with Siva Diva online, he tells me he found out the girl was lost at Toa Payoh cos she stayed in Pasir Ris... I stay in Pasir Ris! Freaky deaky. Aaaaand, to add to it, during lunch today Siva Diva mentioned how B from Nike had spoken to him regarding some sponsorship, and I tell him I knew B too (my sponsor afterall). Coincidence again -- B called me moments ago regarding some work stuff... and guess where she was? Holland V, the locale where Jack and Siva Diva do a lot of their gigs. AND then J calls soon after B, and tells me he's going out to -- you guessed it -- Holland V to meet friends. I can't take it anymore. The coincidence is killing me.

| It was back to work today after a two-week-plus break... man, sure was hard finding gear one. Barely put the foot to the pedal and spent a lot of the day playing Scrabulous with Siva Diva Mama Mia on Facebook. We didn't know we were playing in "challenge" mode, which means you can make any word, but if your opponent challenges you and it's not able to be validated by the online dictionary, you lose your turn and get no points. Of course, by the time we realised that this rule applied, words like "sbruglaz" and "dhascony" and "frapow" had popped up. I was laughing out loud to myself at my desk, as my colleague Tvoon, busy doing real work, looked on like I was losing it. Well I did write one teeny weeny story... sent two emails... so first day of work back after break went by in a flash. Anyway, the race results are out officially on the Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore website. Along with my age-group second-place glass plaque, I also received $500 for clocking the fastest swim among the local girlies. Thank you Aviva! That money will go towards me beemer... Here's some pics from the race, thanks to Harold.
And one from ironmanlive.com...
