These few days of silence have been due to an extreme busyness during this festive period, what with all the parties (three), presents (13) and eatings (tons). Managed to squeeze a few workouts in, on Tuesday evening a 4.5km run-3km swim-4.5km run; on Thursday, Christmas morning, a quick 40km spin; this morning, an 87km bike ride, shortened because I have to rest my legs for tomorrow’s MR25 Ultramarathon. I think with the amount I ate I would probably have needed to do 10 Ironmans to burn all the turkey, ham and cake off. Ah well. Just run more tomorrow.
But, first, the parties. One on Christmas eve - at Harriet and Adam’s - and two on Christmas day - the traditional family party at my cuz’s and an evening gathering at Dave and Sasha’s. All three homes had beautifully decorated trees and bountiful food. Other than stuffing ourselves crazy, at Harriet and Adam’s we also played Guitar Hero 2 and made eggnog, at my cuz’s I baked chocolate cupcakes with hazelnut frosting and Damo got grilled by my aunts and uncles, and at Dave and Sasha’s we played Articulate and took pictures of Adam looking pregnant.
Second, the presents. I got 13 in total, one each from my parents (a pendant), brother and his girlfriend (Anna Sui lip gloss ring and pendant and perfume), cousins Amelia (benefit lipgloss) and Deborah (bodyshop shower scrub), all the aunts and uncles (a chopping board) and Christine (a little Nonya print bag), and seven - yes, SEVEN!! - from my baby. Why? He claims actually only one was really for me - the Mulberry Bayswater handbag - and the rest are for sharing. Aw, isn’t he such a sweetie??
I loved how after I ripped open my Christmas pressies at the stroke of midnight, he then proceeded to rip open his, pretending to look surprised with presents his family had given him. (They really passed him cash to buy whatever he wanted, and he wrapped the stuff up himself.) So, he got a Mulberry wallet, Mulberry cufflinks, four DVDs, a book from his uncle, wine from my brother and his girlfriend, a swiss army knife from my dad and mom, and custom-made Oakley Radar sunglasses from me.
And with that, Christmas is over. Can’t wait for next year’s to come!
