Hanky panky

I just got back from town where I met Damo for a huge salad lunch at rawbar, one of the rare days that I leave my car at home and hop on the MRT. In fact, one of the rare days I actually head into town. Thank goodness for that, for certain things I encountered today were surely not for the faint-hearted… at least not mine.

Now, I’ve heard and seen of the ubiquitous tissue paper-chope table syndrome in town. But, forgive my ignorance, I just found out that some men have their own reservation style. I just hope those hankies were clean. This seen at the Pacific Coffee Company.

hank you, but this seats taken

i had to take a photo of the culprits

Haven’t at least one of them heard of telling their buddy their order then taking a seat to physically chope the table for the foursome? Hmm…

The luxuries of personal transport and an avoidance of crowds have also blinded me to inconsiderate people on public transport and in public areas. I’m sure the following many of you have observed on a daily basis. Please forgive my country bumpkinness.
Seen today:
1. People standing near the train’s door, refusing to move in.
2. People rushing into the train before anyone can exit. I simply shouted: “EXCUSE ME!” and gave some woman the shoulder. Embarrassment is the best form of disciplining for Singaporeans, I feel.
3. Lone man standing on right side of escalator while everyone else is considerately keeping to the left. A woman barges through, he looks behind and continues to stay put. Dickhead.
4. People standing listlessly in between an already narrow walkway, ignorantly blocking human traffic flow. Big nudge to their head will do the trick.

Am I glad or am I glad that I don’t work in town nor have to take public transport? :-)

So true. For those rushing in the train, I do the same thing as you do.. Or sometimes, I’ll also look straight at them and exclaim loudly, “Wah you very good.. Very fast!!”
