Don’t think, just do.

When it comes to training, sometimes you have to adopt that kind of philosophy.

This morning my alarm rang at 5.40am, my wake up call for the CycleWorx ride. I woke up, decided it was a bit too early, went back to sleep. Ten minutes later the alarm rang again. I then decided I would ride alone, so I set the alarm for 6.15am and went back to sleep. Rather, I tried to go back to sleep but I couldn’t, because I spent many minutes deliberating if I should just do the CycleWorx ride. Go, don’t go, go, don’t go. What the heck, I went. By then I had just 15 minutes to get changed, pump tyres and fill my drink bottles. Thankfully I made it to the meeting point in time. But there were only eight of us on the ride today because while a bunch are away racing in Thailand (including Damo), the rest it seems decided to rest.

Ironically on a day when few people turned up, the weather was great. It started to drizzle in the first few Ks of our ride but I think the storm was going one way and we were going the other, so all we pretty much got was wet roads and wheel spray. Only Antonio and I climbed Faber, then everyone did Gap. We skipped the hockey stick. Then we agreed to skip NTU, although four guys went on to do it. I didn’t want to wait so I went home alone by Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Timah. I have to start work at 10.45am today too, so I thought might as well get home quick.

So really happy to have done just over 3h on the bike. Legs still bit tired from Wednesday’s effort but not too bad. Went for a short swim yesterday too, twas nice and relaxed.

The five-day Tour of Friendship in Thailand is about to kick off in about an hour. Today is the shortest day, a 7km individual time trial. Damo cut his hair super short in anticipation of the Thai heat. He says it also shaves off a few grams of weight. Haha! Good luck baby! Good luck all!

10min, $10 haircut. you wonder why beckham bothers with his stylist.

just before leaving for the airport

To leave you with some randomness, I can’t quite fully express how much I love eating a good bowl of yong tau foo.
