We had my family over for dinner tonight in celebration of Mom. I wanted to cook something simple yet delish for them, so a few days ago I decided on miso marinated cod from my recently acquired New York cookbook. The best thing about the dish is it takes almost no effort or skill at all, but the end result is amazing.

All it took was some overnight marinating in a mixture of miso, sake, mirin and sugar…. a quick spin on the Breville before popping it into the oven for 15 minutes… and voila! Dinner was served.
To accompany we had steamed baby carrots and broccoli (both of which had such natural sweetness no seasoning was required) and Damo’s famous (by Adam’s and my standards) rosemary and garlic roast potatoes.
Success! The only failure I think would be that there wasn’t enough food!

Some Irish cream tiramisu did the job, though. Nigella’s no-fail recipe always, uh, doesn’t fail. Everyone had seconds. No picture, but just imagine the best damn tiramisu you could ever eat.
Dinner capped a good day that began with a short interval sesh (6k total including 3x 1k hard), 9am church service and an 11.40am showing of Star Trek at The Cathay.
And today capped a pretty fulfilling week of work, training and personal time. Me thinks next week will be great too.
Happy Momma’s Day to all mothers!
