I’ve been researching on what phone to get next, you know, because with my current phone touching the screen doesn’t illicit any response. Reading web pages on my N82 is making me blind and watching YouTube videos on it makes me squint. Seeing people swipe their iPhones makes me jealous.
Funny thing is that all that researching made me nostalgic. I started to recall the good old days of bricks and black and white, when handphone bills were low because all you could do with it was make and take calls. In my reminiscing, I came across this, the evolution of Nokia phones. Click image or link to view it in full glory.
Inspired, I’ve decided to come up with my personal timeline of handphones I’ve used before. Some years are hazy to me, even though everything only happened in the past decade. And I’ve got this sneaky feeling I’m missing a phone somewhere…
But, anyway, here goes:

1998 -- Nokia 5110

1999 - Nokia 8210

2000 - Ericsson T20s

2001 - Siemens M35i

2002 - Nokia 5210 (won in a competition)

2005 - Siemens S65 (borrowed second-hand cos bag got stolen)

2005 - Motorola Razr V3

2007 - Nokia E65

2008 to present - Nokia N82
While I do hope to get a new swanky touchscreen phone soon, I still intend to keep my N82 because I can’t bear to part with it. For one, it has a fantastic 5-megapixel camera with Xenon flash. It has all my texts and SMSes and MMSes from the past two years. It has all my contacts (and I’m not likely to buy a Nokia next). I can surf the web, watch YouTube videos, check my mail, access free Wifi… pretty much do everything with my phone at the moment. Besides, it comes in a handy size that fits in my long purse.
Which is why I’m having second thoughts about getting a new phone.
But, oh, I just want to read web pages without getting a headache.
