First day in Florida

So after 32 hours of travelling, stopping over at Doha and NYC, 13 episodes of grey’s anatomy, three planes, two breakfasts, a chicken dinner and tedious American immigration, I finally got to Clearwater Beach at 10pm last night.

Surprisingly I got to bed pretty quickly and woke up at 730am without much trouble. Headed out for a 40min run, got back and set up my bike, then did a 20min bike.

That’s Pier 60, where we will swim alongside out and back for a total of 1.9k. There were some people our practising this morn. I’ll do it tomorrow.

And in the other photo, the little bridge we have to go up six times on the bike and four times on the run. Nothing too bad, much like Faber. I think there’s another climb later on the bike. So not completely pancake flat as I thought it was.

The wind was really strong today. People say it’s because of the tropical storm Ida that struck the East Coast this morning. There are pretty badly hit areas and flights are affected, according to CNN. Thankfully Clearwater is dry, for now.

The race expo is just getting set up at Pier 60. I’ll be collecting my race pack tomorrow after testing out the swim. Saw quite a lot of people out today, but I suspect people will really start rolling in later today and tomorrow.

One of the things I love about the US? All day breakfast! Pancakes and eggs for lunch at ihop. Mm mm good!
