First it was bike commuting. Next year, I hope to do run commuting regularly. I figured it was a practical way of fitting my ultramarathon training into my busy work schedule. Either to work or to home, either way it will save me some time. It will also cure me of some boredom of doing a long run on an out-and-back course, because point-to-point is always easier on the mind. You know, backtracking can be a pain…
So, excited about my new challenge, I went out to get a running pack at Campers Corner at Stamford Road during lunch today after much research online.

It’s just the right size to fit my work clothing, some personal items and other work stuff (not my laptop, but then I will defo not try to run with my brick-like ThinkPad). It has a fantastic harness system that ensures the bag doesn’t bounce when you do. And of course, the colour is rad. Check it out for yourself here.
I did a trial run on Saturday of sorts. Ran from home along my intended run route to work, turning off a bit before towards Thomson to loop back home. It will take me about 50 minutes to run to work at an easy pace. On days that I need to do a longer run, I’ll make some detours first. On days that I want to really hammer myself, I’ll run to work and back.
Man, I’m getting really excited at the prospects right now…

This is a really cool idea! Like going back to basics, instead of depending on machines. If people can think of the health benefits and sustainable eco-friendly ways, there could be less worries.
The bag is very sweet. :)
