Over 20 of us put the ‘tan’ in Bintan on Saturday, braving 140km worth of heat, hills and strong winds on our bicycles. The first pack of about eight of us took between 4h30min-4h50min to finish. Our octet had stuck together till the last 55k, when the pack blew apart with Damo leading the way. He reached the ferry terminal first, thanks to his superior climbing skills… and I was in second spot (having not stopped a third time for drinks unlike the others) till the last 10km when I stopped and waited for the others thinking we were gonna get some fluids… but no one did. So I hopped on my bike again and finished sixth in the end, I think.
A super tough training day both physically and mentally. Am not in a hurry to get back to Bintan anytime soon… Anyway, here are some pics taken by Jeff.
