Flowing feet

A colleague commented today, as we drove to an interview with my car stereo blasting, how I listen to music that tends to be mellow and stripped. Also possibly known as stoner music. Think Whitest Boy Alive, Kings of Convenience, Jack Johnson, some EBTG tracks. The kind you can chill to, fall asleep to, let your mind wander off to.

The feeling I get when listening to such music is actually similar to how I feel when I’m running at 5.30am. At peace with the world. Calm. Cool. My feet a few miles from home, my mind a few thousand miles farther away.

This morning’s two hour easy run was no different. There was a planned route in mind, but I really just went where my feet carried me. It ended up covering 24km, home in time for a dip in the pool and two hours of lazing before work.

Done With You is my favourite track on The Whitest Boy Alive’s debut album, Dreams. The band shares the same lead singer as Kings of Convenience, which is how I learnt about the former. No, not through Grey’s, as the following video might suggest.
