It’s a dog’s life

Long weekends aren’t really in my vocabulary. A scheduled off day on Saturday turned into a 10am-7pm workday at very late notice, no thanks to some breaking doping scandal.

Sunday and Monday was thankfully unscathed by anything laborious. Just an 8k easy jog (to follow up on Saturday’s 80k moderate-paced ride) and visiting (which ironically is actually more tiring than work or training) on Sunday, and a 115k crazy fast CycleWorx race simulation ride on Monday morn before heading to my aunt’s. By “crazy fast” I mean passing people who were already going at 62.9km/h… yeah go figure. I avoided the NUS and NTU climbs just so I would survive the rest of the ride, which thankfully eased off at Woodlands, where most riders turned off the other direction for a shorter route back to the shop. A group of about 15 of us continued on the planned route down Woodlands, Sembawang, Yishun, Upper Thomson. I can’t begin to describe the joy I felt reaching home, having a cool shower and chowing down on a juicy chicken burger across the street at Barcelos.

And yes, on this public holiday Tuesday, I’m back at work. But not before a good 11k hill interval sesh this morn, surprisingly my fastest Mt Sinai loops ever. Either I’m getting fitter or the Chinese New Year goodies seriously carbed me up well (I think it’s both).

Actually it’s not much of a dog’s life. The pooch above is Jamie’s JD, his life really revolves around running around the house, siestas on his dog futon and getting some serious lovin’ from his owner and her friends.

Dogs have it good.
